Principal's Message: Week of February 3, 2019
4th Week of Ordinary TIme

Dear St. Luke Families,

Well, the New England Patriots just won another Super Bowl and the Groundhog did give her indication once again for an early spring (with conditions)! These coming weeks our students will be partaking in STAR Testing so please make sure they get plenty of rest and have a healthy breakfast before arriving to school. We conduct STAR testing three times annually. On Tuesday, we have our second of three ‘Chat with the Principal’ at 2:30 p.m. – we shall be re-capping what has occurred within our school and what is around the corner which will include our Diocese of Stockton Ministry Day, Catholic Identity, and Family Appreciation Day on Valentine’s Day!!

This coming week we hear the famous story where Jesus tells Peter, James & John to fish in deep water where there had not been a positive result that entire night. Without warning their nets became bloated with fishes and Peter cries out, “depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” Experience of God lets us understand that we are far, far less than God. This is not bad, it is good! Our own being cannot make us holy but God’s can. We can be proud to be unworthy, if reception of God’s love is the result.

So, at mass, week after week, we echo the Roman centurion: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” When we, as individuals, react with shame, God does not say in return, “I reject you,” but “I love you dearly, be with me, you are my child.”

Mr. Rieschick
