What's that? It's a super fun program where our students gather pledges for every lap they run at the Fun Run (usually 30 - 35 laps). Here's more great info:

  • Kick off: 10/16 with a Pep Rally at OCE
  • Track 3 Fun Run: 10/20
    •     9:30-10:30 - all grades

  • Tracks 1, 2 and 4: 10/27
    •     9:30-10:30 - K & 1st

    •    10:35-11:35 - 2nd & 3rd

  • GOAL : $35,000! This money will be used for technology and collaborative space in our media center and to the entire Castle Quest experience
  • Boosterthon is the group OCE works with to help us host a fun, profitable run. You'll see documents coming home from Boosterthon that give more detail about the Fun Run.

How can you help? It takes only 4 simple steps:

  1. Watch for more info to come home.
  2. Register on FUNRUN.COM on 10/16.
  3. Connect to sponsors—friends and family who can donate to help our school.
  • Why wait until 10/16? You can start this process now!

        4. Cheer on your child! (Come to the Fun Run on 10/20 (Track 3) and 10/27                        (Tracks 1, 2, & 4))

Walk-to-School Wednesday - Special Guest

[Hidden image]

October 4 is our kickoff for the
2017-18 Walk to School program, and we have a special guest walking with us.  Apex Mayor Lance Olive is going to join students walking from Kelly Road park.

Mayor Olive has an impressive Walk to School track record - as a student he walked while attending Baucom and Apex Elementary! He will be hanging out on the map before school, so stop by and say hi.  As always, get your bag tokens, enter the raffle and pick up your t-shirt iron-on.  Shirts will be available to purchase for $10.

Please click here  to find out when and where your neighborhood meets on Walk to School days.  All dates for this school year are also posted online. Grab your neighbors and get walking!

Grandparents Breakfast!

[Hidden image]

No one is as special as a grandparent, so we're helping our OCE stud ents celebrate their Nana & Poppy or Grammi & Grampi . The OCE PTA will provide breakfast for students & grandparents in the school cafeteria on the following dates:

  • Oct. 20th, 8 - 8:45 a.m. - Tracks 1 & 3
  • Oct. 27th, 8 - 8:45 a.m. Tracks 2 & 4

As much as we'd like to, we are unable to provide breakfast for parents, too. The no-cost breakfast on these days is only for students and their grandparents. Thank you for your understanding.

And don't forget - the OCE Book Fair is also taking place these same days in the Library. Grandparents are welcome to shop before or after breakfast if they would like to!

Opt-In for School Messenger

[Hidden image] The district uses the SchoolMessenger notification service to send important information to families through phone calls. Starting in January 2017, we will begin rolling out this service to schools so they can share information through text message and email, based on parents' preferences.

PLEASE NOTE: You must opt in to receive text messages via SchoolMessenger.  On 10/2, you'll receive an opt-in text message to the phone number on file at OCE.

Click this link for more info.

OCE Kids Core - Hurricane Relief Coin Drive

Kids Corps (OCE's 4 th and 5 th grade student leaders) is leading our school in collecting donations for a Texas teacher in need. Ms. H is a 1 st grade teacher from Klein ISD in Houston TX. During Hurricane Harvey the classrooms in her school were flooded with 8 inches of water. She lost most everything: books, science kits, hands on manipulatives in fact, because of the extensive water damage the decision was made to move the elementary students to a wing in the local high school until the school can be repaired.

If your family is interested in donating coins, cash, or checks (made out to OCE PTA) Kids Corps has a bucket in the front office that your child can drop off anytime between now and Friday, October 27th. We are setting a school wide goal to raise $5,000 for these students. Any donation will be greatly appreciated!
